A reseller quotes from a fixed range because that is what their supplier gives them. A manufacturer quotes from a die, which is why the first question we ask is the dimension and the weight, not which catalogue number you want.
It also changes who answers when something has to be adjusted mid-job. Artwork that does not fit the die, a handle that will not carry the load, a colour that will read differently on kraft than on white board: those are production questions, and production is the only place they can actually be answered.
Those five things are enough for a real price. Everything else - stock weight, handle, finish - we will recommend.
Once a bag has been made, the die and the artwork stay on file. A repeat order does not pay for setup again, and the bag comes back identical rather than approximately the same.
